How To Increase The Maximum Volume Steps On Android

The volume level on our Android phones comprises of 7 or 15 steps between minimum and maximum. For the media controls, you'll get 15 steps i.e between mute and max. While the alarms, voice- call and notifications requires 7 presses of the volume button to send you all the way from silent to full blast. If perhaps you're a movie lover or someone who is addicted to music, then you'll need a pair of headphone on daily basis to go around your businesses. Chances are, you might not be able to get the same volume level between your headphones and this can be a whole lot irritating.

Prior to this problem, the developers at XDA "Phascinate" and "Kuba Kalamarz" has come up with a similar app that can increase the maximum volume steps on Android. The two developers envisioned and decided to create these apps (Precise Volume & Volume Steps+) since they felt that Android was seriously lacking in the volume steps department. Now while the VolumeStep+ Xposed Module requires root permission to function, the Precise Volume can blend on any Android with or without rooting. This definitely is the difference between the two app. Without further ado, here's how to increase the maximum volume steps on Android with or without rooting.

#1. Increase Volume Level On Android Using VolumeStep+

The VolumeStep+ Xposed Module was created in other to change the number of volume steps on your Android device. As as earlier on, when you're listening to music, then 15 steps won't be precise enough. So VolumeSteps+ aims to be an open source, a configurable and also user friendly app that helps you to adjust the number of volume steps on your device. The module is able to adjust the number of volumesteps for multiple streams and more and all this requires root access.

Install VolumeStep+

To begin with, you'll first need to install the Xposed Installer app, then from your app drawer, locate and open the Xposed framework. From here, simply head over to the download section via the app and search for VolumeSteps+. Now tap on the result, then swipe from the left to jump into the version tab. From here, hit the download button and install the module afterwards.

Activate VolumeSteps+

Next, you'll need to activate the module. Thus a notification from Xposed will pop up telling you that VolumeSteps+ hasn't been activated yet, so tap activate and reboot your device. Alternatively you can open the Xposed Installer app, then head over to the module section and tick the VolumeSteps+ box. Go back and navigate into the framework section and perform a soft reboot.

Adjust Your Volume Steps

When your device reboots, locate & open the VolumeSteps+ module from your app drawer. A pop-up will appear informing you that a reboot is needed in other for the changes you make with your volume steps to take effect. Tap OK to continue with this app. From the interface, you'll notice that each volume category has its own menu entry. So tap on the one you want to adjust, then use the slider that appears to fine-tune your volume steps. Press OK when you're satisfied.

Proceed with the other entries (alarm, music, notification, ringer, system and in-call streams) and adjust their slider to your preference. Note; The slider ranges somewhere between 5 to 50 steps, so you will surely find more volume steps that is right for each category. VolumeStep+ automatically allows you to disable the safe headset volume warning when you plug in your headphone. This helps the Module to comply with the new number of music steps. Once you're done, reboot your device for the changes to take effect and enjoy.
